Yousuf Not Called Up Despite Rush UK Visa
Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Yousuf did not play in the second Test against England on Friday despite travelling to the UK on a last-minute UK work visa for the match.
The decision by the team not to play the batsman has angered Pakistan fans. Former Test captain Zaheer Abbas stated, “In the first place, I don’t understand what Yousuf is doing in England. If the need was so urgent that they rushed him to England at short notice then he should have played in whatever condition he was in.”
Yousuf announced his retirement in March, but the Pakistani cricket board called on him on last minute arrangements, in advance of the second Test last week.
However, the board then made the decision not to include him in the final team despite him having applied for the UK visa to allow him to rush out to the game.
Abbas added, It is a laughable situation calling a batsman out of retirement and who technically is still banned. What message did it convey to the young players in the touring squad that the board and management does not have confidence in them.
